DeltaV adds new cybersecurity training program

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (Oct. 26, 2021) – With cybersecurity threats becoming more common in the workplace, companies need more professionals who are trained to counter any attacks and install safety measures.

With that in mind, DeltaV Code School is launching a new cybersecurity training program that allows students to launch a new career in a desperately-needed field.

The inaugural cohort of the 14-week program, DeltaV Cybersecurity, will launch November 29, 2021. It concludes on March 18, 2022.

“Cybersecurity is one of the most in-demand fields,” said DeltaV instructor Dan Tuuri, who will be heading up the new program. “We need to help organizations prevent, detect, and respond to cyber attacks and threats in a rapidly changing environment. By relying on industry expertise, industry and governmental resources, students will get real exposure to the ways that bad agents and criminals cause harm and how businesses defend and recover.”

DeltaV’s course begins with brief instruction on networks, server administration, and cloud computing (AWS), and rapidly accelerates into artificial intelligence, physical security, disaster recovery planning and more.

The class ends with a multi-day live hacking range, where students will put their skills to the test in responding to a simulated cyber attack.

Tuuri noted that the potential for job growth and income in the cybersecurity realm is massive. Information Security Analysts, for example, have a 31 percent job outlook growth, as well as a median National $103,590, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

“Cybercriminals are increasing the frequency and sophistication of their attacks, and it’s crucial to develop training to combat and protect us from the cybercrime syndicates and the rampant threat landscape,” said Brandon Potter, Chief Technology Officer at ProCircular in Coralville. “With the demand for cybersecurity skills and available jobs, the DeltaV curriculum from NewBoCo gives our local market the ability to upskill talent and bring cyber resiliency to our backyard.”

DeltaV’s courses will feature industry professionals as guest lecturers, including those who have worked in Industrial Control Systems, Crime Investigation, Professional Auditing, and Network Infrastructure. Students will access digital libraries with tens of thousands of resources to support their learning.

Funding for the development and launch of the DeltaV Cybersecurity program was provided by the Cedar Grove Signature Fund.

Financing and Diversity Tuition Awards are available for students who qualify. Registration is open now until December 22nd, 2021. Those who are interested can view the upcoming schedule, learn more about tuition awards, and apply at www.deltavcodeschoolcom.
