In 2015, the Des Moines Symphony commissioned Symphony on a Stick to celebrate the sights, sounds and attractions of the Iowa State Fair through music and original cinematography. Since then, we've played it countless times — from the opening night of the 2016 Iowa State Fair, to various youth and family concerts. Now, during what would have been the final week of the 2020 Iowa State Fair, we're making the piece available online.

Though Iowans can't attend the State Fair in person this summer, we invite you to join us online this Thursday, August 20 at 7PM. From the butter cow to the lights of the midway, food on a stick and more, you'll get to experience all your favorites in this multimedia celebration of an Iowa classic.

Join us Thursday, August 20 for the livestreamed premiere of Symphony on a Stick
