The 24th Annual Northside Oktoberfest/Iowa City BrewFest will take place this Fall on Saturday, October 5th from 12:00pm-3:00pm in the Northside Marketplace. The Northside Oktoberfest showcases the Bohemian nature of Iowa City’s Northside Neighborhood through craft beer and local food.

Exclusive BrewMaster tickets sold out earlier this summer, though General Admission tickets remain available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased online or in-person at John’s Grocery. The 500 BrewMaster ticket holders get to enjoy the festival starting an hour earlier at 11:00am, receive an upgraded tasting glass, and get a $5.00 credit they can redeem at participating Northside businesses.

General Admission guests can sample during regular festival hours of 12:00pm-3:00pm and will also receive a custom tasting glass. Attendees can experience the great atmosphere with tasty craft beers, ciders, and wines from all over the world while taking in the last of the nice weather. In addition, there will be live musical entertainment including a traditional Oktoberfest Polka band along with traditional Oktoberfest games like Hammer-schlagen, masskrugstemmen, beer slide, and keg bowling. Attendees are encouraged to wear their authentic lederhosen outfits to win best dressed and have the opportunity in earning the title of 2019 Northside Oktoberfest Brat Eating Champion.

“The Northside Oktoberfest has been a longstanding tradition here in Iowa City. It brings thousands of community members to the Northside Marketplace and benefits local area non-profits while supporting the Northside businesses. This year, 22 volunteer groups will receive a donation for their help with the festival. Sponsored by Fly CID – The Eastern Iowa Airport, John’s Grocery, Little Village, Pagliai’s Pizza, and Phelan Tucker Law LLP, the Northside Oktoberfest is free for the public to visit. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the festival, neighborhood food, play games, and watch the Iowa Hawkeye football game against the Michigan Wolverines on the big screen TV. Only those with a ticket and official glass will be allowed to sample beers, ciders, and wines from over 60 booths,” said Director of Speical Events, Christopher Hunter.

As part of the Northside Oktoberfest, the annual Sodafest will take place the same day from 10:00am-3:00pm. Parents are encouraged to bring their family and kids to N. Linn Street and Pagliai’s parking lot to enjoy fall craft activities and various programming elements, such as a rock-climbing wall, live entertainment, and inflatable games. SodaFest is facilitated by the Iowa Children’s Museum and is open to all ages. $5.00 will get you an acrylic soda tasting glass for unlimited soda samples.
