LETTER FROM BUSINESS PUBLICATIONS CORPORATION:
Introducing the Iowa Stops Hunger Initiative
No one should go hungry.

Such a simple, yet powerful statement.

We live in a state that feeds the country and the world, yet many Iowans don't know where to turn for their next meal. The pandemic has only made this situation worse. And while food insecurity can affect anyone, it is more prevalent in diverse and marginalized communities, compounding inequities.

In talking with community leaders, the severity of this issue became clear to us. It also led to the question, “As a media company, how can we at Business Publications Corp. (BPC) use our voice to create awareness and inspire action?”

The answer is Iowa Stops Hunger, a joint, statewide project between our three flagship BPC publications — the Business Record, dsm magazine and ia magazine and presenting sponsor Hy-Vee to help stop hunger and fight food insecurity in Iowa.

We invite you to join us on a yearlong journey as we delve into hunger through virtual events, reporting, stories, videos, dedicated website, custom magazine, social media and a Corporate Challenge for the business community.

What can you do:
  • Join us for our first virtual panel event on July 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m via Zoom. Register here.

  • Businesses: For information on the Iowa Stops Hunger Corporate Challenge, click here. As part of the challenge, BPC will be providing you with unique ideas and specific actions your business and employees can take to help end hunger, and our news teams will provide you with coverage of the issue that you can pass on to your staff.

  • Rest assured we have opportunities in the works for our many small-business, nonprofit and self-employed and individual readers — stay tuned!

  • Read and share the stories and information you’ll see highlighted in the Business Record, dsm and ia. If you are inspired to act, we’ll provide ideas and resources to connect with hunger- and food insecurity-related organizations across the state.

No Iowan should go hungry. It’s that simple, powerful and achievable! Please join us in making this a reality.
