Joy Behar says she 'did not miss' co-host Meghan McCain following 'The View' clash

Day two of Meghan McCain's return to the "The View" ensued in a fiery clash with Joy Behar. 

During Tuesday's "Hot Topics" segment, Whoopi Goldberg posed the question of whether it was time to expand past a two party political system, and Behar began to respond describing a fight between the "seditionists" and the "Republicans" going on in the GOP. 

McCain interrupted Behar by calling her statement as "completely inaccurate" and began to note battles within the Democratic party naming Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders. 

"I was speaking. I was talking," Behar shot back at McCain who teased her co-host about missing her.

"You missed me so much, Joy. You missed me so much when I was on maternity leave, you missed fighting with me," McCain said.

Behar, however, said she did not feel that at all. "I did not. I did not miss you. Zero," Behar said.

McCain returned to the "The View" Monday with a message for conservatives.

The 36-year-old, who took three months off from her "View" hosting duties following the birth of her daughter, Liberty, returned to the show on Monday advocating for mandatory paid maternity leave.

The host said her experiences following the birth of her first child informed her opinion on the issue.

“When I gave birth, I actually had postnatal preeclampsia, and I was in the hospital for a week after on a magnesium drip, and it really, really kicked my butt," she said, adding that she was "physically unable" to return to work six weeks after giving birth as she originally planned.

According to Mayo Clinic, postpartum preeclampsia is a rare condition that can cause seizures and other complications if left untreated.

"I had to have my husband and my mother-in-law help me do everything, from shower to eat," McCain continued. "It was deeply humbling."

During this time, McCain said she reflected on "what a privilege" it is to have paid maternity leave and questioned why other women in America don't have the same luxury.

"And then I started getting more and more angry that conservatives in particular, given that we are the party of family values and that everything about our ideology sort of stems from the nucleus of the family, that we are leaving women in this country without the capacity and ability, unless you have an employer that allows you to take care of your child, to heal physically, which is something that needs to happen," she added.

McCain also noted that both Republican and Democratic politicians have indicated support for paid maternity leave policies.

"This is something that's a really dark spot for our country," she continued. "We as conservatives have to come together and allow all women in this country, no matter where they're from or their socioeconomic class, the capacity to have what I just had."

McCain also called on her fellow "View" hosts to "put pressure" on lawmakers who appear on the show by asking them "why the women of America don't get the same kind of maternity leave that Meghan McCain got."
