SO DOT ADMINISTRATORS SAY THEY’RE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING REPAIR PARTS FOR PLOWS AND TRUCKS IN THESE GARAS. PARTS LIKE PLOW BLADES. THE HEAD OF WINT OERPERATIONS FOR THE DOT SAYS THE GUARANTEED DELIVERY DATE ON A PLOW BLE AD APRIL OF 2022. WHILE THIS MAY CREATE SOME CHALLENGES, THE DOT SAYS THEY’RE READY. The Iowa Department of Transportation worries that supply chain issues could cause problems for them when they have to keep snowplows on the roads this winter.DOT administrators told KCRG they are having trouble getting repair parts for plows and trucks in these garages. Parts like plow blades.The head of winter operations for the DOT, Craig Bargfrede, says the guaranteed delivery date on a plow blade is in April 2022.Bargfrede says while this may create some challenges, but the DOT is ready.“That could be, could be a challenge for us as we go down the road, but we have other alternatives we can look at. So, it's not like that we're not without them, we may have to resort to a different type," Bargfrede said.One thing the DOT doesn't think they'll be short of is salt. Department of transportation garages currently have 228,000 tons of salt on hand, putting them at 100% capacity.
