Plymouth County Conservation manages over 2,700 acres of oak timber and river bottom forest, native and reconstructed prairies, wetlands, ponds and lakes. With numerous miles of unpaved trails, multiple campgrounds, a snow tubing hill with lift , disc golf course, boat ramps, picnic shelters and playgrounds, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Plymouth County's 17 wildlife areas, recreation areas, and parks. Year-round environmental education and recreations programs provide everyone with the chance to learn new skills and gain knowledge about their natural environment.

Activities in Plymouth County

Activities that can be done within areas managed by the Plymouth County Conservation include: 

-wildlife viewing         -camping                 -picnicking                -swimming                  -disc golfing -horseback riding
-hiking                        -hunting                  -fishing                      -canoeing                   -cross country skiing        -bird watching
-kayaking                   -geocaching            -snow tubing            -snowshoeing            -educational programs -mountain biking

Hunting, mountain biking, camping and horseback riding are limited to certain parks and are not allowed at all parks at all times. Please check specific park you are visiting for rules and regulations regarding these activities. 

Facilities in Plymouth County

Plymouth County Conservation has several facilities available to both reserve and use on a first come first served basis. 

Hillview has a meeting space and a large picnic shelter available to reserve and rent. The large picnic shelter and a much smaller shelter near the pond can also be used on a first come first served basis. The Deer Ridge Campground has two camper cabins for rental as well during our May 1 - Oct 14 camping season. Three campgrounds lie within the boundaries of Hillview Park, typically open from May 1 - October 14 each year. The sites at these campgrounds are NOT RESERVABLE.  

River's Bend Wildlife Area has a small picnic and 10 campsites, all available on a first come first served basis. 

Five Ridge Prairie has a small rustic cabin situated atop on loess bluff, overlooking the Big Sioux and Missouri River Valley. This cabin is reservable all year.
